SUMAQ MACHU PICCHU HOTEL PRESENTS ITS OWN SETTING FOR CEREMONIES AND EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES

Starting today, Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel has an exclusive place for holding its experiential activities and ceremonies such as the Payment to the Earth Ritual, the Pachamanca Cooking Class and the Arac Masin Andean Wedding.

The area set aside for these Sumaq activities is an open-air space measuring 7 m x 8 m, with a 25-person capacity. It is an area where beautiful species of flora grow and the scent of medicinal herbs fills the air.

In the case of Arac Masin, now a bride and groom can live their dream, not only by having a symbolic wedding at the foot of Machu Picchu, but also by having their loved ones present on their wedding day, since there is now more space for guests.

Arac Masin, as this age-old ritual is known, is a ceremony that was performed by ancient Peruvians as a symbol of Andean duality. Currently, it is only performed by Sumaq in the town of Machu Picchu Pueblo.

“For a long time, we have wanted to create a private place for our Andean weddings, and now we have one. We are very pleased to present it and to tell our customers that from now on, there is a special place for Arac Masin ceremonies, where they will find the same dedication and service for which we are known,” remarked Aníbal Clavijo, Sumaq’s managing director.

This ritual is led by a shaman who, with the gifts handed down through the ages by generations of Incas, invokes the elements of nature – the Apus, or spirits of the mountains; Pachamama, or mother earth; Mama Koka, or mother coca; the chaskas, or stars; the Aukis and Achachilas, or light; and Willka Nina, or sacred fire – to make the bride and groom’s relationship a union that will last throughout eternity.

SUMAQ CELEBRATES VALENTINE’S DAY WITH ITS GUESTS

On February 14, Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel surprised its distinguished guests with an exquisite detail in their rooms: chocolate-covered strawberries and golden berries on a tea leaf, along with a greeting card from the hotel.

In addition, throughout the day, Sumaq’s guests continued to receive surprises with special promotions at Aqlla Spa and Suquy Café & Bar.

SUMAQ HOTEL PARTICIPATED IN THE “CHILCANO WEEK”
Within the promotion of Peruvian gastronomy framework from Machu Picchu, Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel celebrated with their guests the “Chilcano Week” along with the presentation of its chilcanos list in all its varieties with fruits in season.

The promotion of chilcanos in Sumaq took place on its national celebration date from January 10 to January 19 during the business hours of the Suquy Café & Bar located on the third floor of the hotel.

Sumaq guests tried the exotic chilcanos made of cinnamon, passion fruit, chiqchipa (typical flower of Machu Picchu), pomegranate, ginger, among others.

Apart of enjoying the emblematic week that is celebrated for the fifth consecutive year in our country, the Sumaq guests participated in the “Peruvian Cuisine & Bar Classes”, where they learned how to prepare chiqchipa chilcano, aromatic plant of Machu Picchu.

NEWLY REDECORATED SUMAQ LOBBY AND RECEPTION AREA
Starting today, our guests will experience all the warmth and elegance of the remodel of the reception area and the lobby at Sumaq. With their understated, authentic Andean style, these spaces are sure to please our groups and fits.

An impeccable color selection, architecture that makes use of wood and stone, and decoration that highlights the beauty of Andean culture come together in harmony in these areas.

The hotel’s privileged view of the mountains of Machu Picchu and the Vilcanota River were taken into account in the remodel. The new interior colors facilitate a wide view of the setting.

Anibal Clavijo, Sumaq’s managing director, explained that the remodeling plan being carried out responds to our distinguished guests’ current needs and to the sustained growth the hotel has undergone since it opened in 2007.
