Offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth) ritual

This ceremony, which has ancestral, millenary origins, is a tradition in the indigenous communities. According to tradition, the ceremony is held in the month of August when the earth is prepared for sowing. There are different types of ceremonies and offerings for harvests, health, love, etc.

The idea behind the offering is to give in order to receive, as Pachamama / Mother Earth gives us air to breathe, water to quench our thirst, and food to eat without asking for anything in return.

During the ceremony, the shaman invokes the APUS, or protective spirits of the mountains: Apu Huamán Lipa, Apu Pacha tusan, Apu Runtu Jkayan Apu Machupicchu, Apu Putukusi and Apu Viscachani. The four elements; Water, Land, Fire and Air.
